Design Intent

As IHG’s newest luxury destination, the InterContinental San Antonio required a design that felt deeply rooted in its regional context. The design team envisioned a hospitality experience where every detail reflected the textures, tones, and natural beauty of the Texas landscape.

Biophilic elements were central to this vision, bringing authenticity, warmth, and a modern sense of place to the hotel’s interiors. For guests, the result is a layered hospitality journey where nature flows seamlessly through the property, from lobby arrival to the bar and shared gathering spaces.

Implementation

Green Oasis partnered with the design team through our
Green Design Assistance process.
This collaborative approach included:

  • Floor plan markups to align planting with spatial intent
  • Planting recommendations that complemented furniture, finishes, and sightlines
  • Design direction meetings to refine planter specifications and placement

Every planting detail was carefully considered so greenery supported the interior concept
rather than competing with it. The final result is a hospitality environment where plant design feels integrated and intentional, creating a calming backdrop
for guest experience.

Green Features

  • Custom planter specifications aligned with the project’s interior design vision
  • Native-inspired plant selections reflecting the textures and tones of the Texas landscape
