Design Intent

With wellness at the core of WellMed’s mission, integrating natural elements into the built environment was central to this healthcare project. The design team envisioned a statement feature that would embody connection, vitality, and calm while reinforcing the organization’s commitment to holistic care.

A two-story POD Living Wall System was identified as the ideal anchor for the main lobby, complemented by Living POD columns that extended greenery into adjacent common areas. Together, these biophilic elements bring a restorative balance to high-traffic spaces and support the building’s LEED certification goals.

Implementation

Green Oasis collaborated closely with the design team to refine plant palettes and layouts. Light levels, airflow, and long-term performance were carefully considered to ensure sustainability and resilience.

Multiple iterations of planting plans were developed, with species chosen for their texture, color, and durability within an active healthcare setting. Each plant was pre-grown in our modular POD System, allowing for efficient installation and immediate visual impact while leaving room for growth and natural maturity.

To minimize maintenance demands, the system was fitted with integrated plumbing and automatic irrigation. These features ensure sustained vitality over time, aligning with WellMed’s commitment to wellness in both practice and environment.
